Duty of Care
God cares for us. He cares for everything he has made. In Genesis 1:26-30 it is recorded that God also expects us to care for all of his created order. This also includes people.
The Old Testament is a record of God caring for his people and individuals imitating that care. There are also examples of good and bad practice in caring. In all of this, God is supreme in his care.
The New Testament shows how much God cares in that he visits us in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus shows how care works when mediated through a human being. Much of the rest of the NT has to do with Christians caring for one another, and through the spreading of the Good News, that care reaching those outside the church.
This study looks at some of the aspects of what is called Pastoral Care, which is the duty and right of all Christians.
